ADHD Workshop (NSW) – 15 Nov
Friday 15 November 2019.
Management of Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder using behavioural interventions.
About the Workshop: This workshop will focus on the assessment and management of Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in children and adolescents from a psychological perspective. The workshop will cover best practice assessment of ADHD according to DSM-5 criteria and will review the evidence for behavioural interventions in ADHD including interventions that can be considered in both the home and school context (e.g., parent management training, organisational skills training). Key strategies used in efficacious interventions will be discussed.
The workshop will also address the major comorbidities experienced by children with ADHD and argue that management plans need to consider such comorbidities in order to improve outcomes. We will focus on the example of sleep difficulties, which affect 70% of children with ADHD and independently contribute to poorer outcomes. Part of this workshop will provide a practical overview of the efficacious Sleeping Sound with ADHD program, a brief behavioural sleep intervention designed for children with ADHD.
Who Should Attend: This workshop is open to mental health workers, school counsellors, psychologists and clinical psychologists, and others with suitable qualifications and experiences.
