Short interruption of one week only in supply of INTUNIV 2mg within Australia
Shire (a Takeda company), the manufacturer of INTUNIV, has recently experienced a supply interruption which has resulted in a shortage of INTUNIV 2mg in Australia. To ensure ongoing access to INTUNIV, Shire has made available INTUNIV 2mg sample packs which are normally provided to doctors as starter packs. This is expected to cover patient needs until mid-April. They expect a return to stable supply by the 20th April 2020, leaving an estimated gap in supply of approximately 1 week. So don’t panic and only buy what you need.
Please note that this out of stock situation ONLY APPLIES TO THE INTUNIV 2mg STRENGTH. All other strengths (1mg, 3mg & 4mg) are not affected.
These replacement starter packs only contain 7 X INTUNIV 2mg tablets instead of 28 tablets in the pack that you normally receive. To make up the 28 tablets you have been prescribed, you will be dispensed 4 lots of INTUNIV 2mg x 7 tablet sample packs. Please be assured that the INTUNIV 2mg tablets are identical to the tablets that you normally receive.
Shire apologises for any inconvenience that this may cause and is working to resolve this shortage as a priority. If you have any concerns and/or questions about the arrangements which have been put in place, please contact Takeda Medical Information via phone on 1800 012 612 or send an email to them at: medinfoAPAC@takeda.com.
As mentioned I hope everyone can be responsible and not panic about this short term out of stock situation.
