NSW reduces school suspensions – SMH 27 August

NSW NEW BEHAVIOUR STRATEGY COMMITS TO REDUCING SUSPENSIONS IN STUDENTS WITH DISABILITY

The Parents for ADHD Advocacy Australia (PAAAA) met with NSW Education Minister Sarah Mitchell earlier in the year to discuss the draft Behaviour Strategy & Disability Strategy for schools in NSW and how they impact students with ADHD. Thanks to extensive advocacy over 18 months from the PAAA, including support from ADHD Australia and the Australian ADHD Professionals Association (AADPA), significant steps forward have been made to reduce suspensions and lengths of suspensions in vulnerable cohorts of students such as those with ADHD.
