Professor Michael Kohn

Professor Kohn spoke about ADHD, separating the “symptoms from the diagnosis and connects the two [verifying the importance] to speak with their GP who will arrange a referral to a Psychiatrist…who will do a clinical interview…who can rule in ADHD…and rule out other causes of your symptoms.” Michael spoke about the three main points highlighted from the ADHD community which came out of ADHD Australia’s recent ‘Under the Radar’ survey report which were:

  • The high cost burden on families when someone in the household has ADHD,
  • Family distress is increased due to the stigma of being diagnosed with ADHD, and
  • A need for schools and workplaces to truly accommodate, empathise with and understand those living with ADHD

The discussion also made mention of Adult ADHD Management and Adult ADHD Strengths.
