The ADHD Australia vision is ‘to make Australia a better place for people living with ADHD’. Established in 2014, ADHD Australia Ltd (ADHDA) is an independent, national, registered charity.  

Around one in twenty Australians live with ADHD, and ADHDA is committed to enabling them to reach their full potential at every stage of life. We achieve this through advocacy, support, education, evidence-based research, and ongoing work to support early intervention, the removal of barriers and reduced ADHD-related stigma. 

Position Overview 

The volunteer position of Grant Writer, ADHD Australia Ltd is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in assisting with developing and writing funding proposals to secure financial support from foundations, government agencies, and philanthropic organisations. This role plays a key part in advancing ADHD Australia’s mission by ensuring sustainable funding through compelling grant applications, strong donor relationships, and accurate reporting.

This volunteer role requires time commitment of 2 hours per week as far as possible.

Key Responsibilities and Deliverables 

  • Assist with the identification of potential funding opportunities from government, corporate, and philanthropic sources.
  • Assist with Writing clear, persuasive, and well-structured grant proposals, letters of intent, and supporting documents.
  • Tailor proposals to meet the requirements of each funder
  • Collaborate with program staff to gather data, case studies, and impact metrics for use in submissions.
  • Build and maintain relationships with funders, foundations, and other key stakeholders
  • Coordinate communication with funders during the application and reporting process
  • Ensure grant compliance by tracking reporting deadlines, deliverables, and outcomes
  • Prepare timely and accurate progress and final reports for funders.
  • Work closely with the leadership team to align grant-seeking activities with strategic priorities
  • Support budget development in collaboration with finance staff for grant submissions

Experience 

  • Proven experience in grant writing and successful track record in securing funding
  • Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to craft persuasive narratives
  • Strong research and analytical skills
  • High level of attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with grant databases or CRM systems

Qualifications 

  • A tertiary qualification in writing, copywriting, or similar is desirable but not required
